New Year and New Class Announcement - TEEN YOGA begins January 14th from 4:15-5:15pm at Citrus Dance Inc. at 62 Broadway for 8 weeks on Thursdays. Hope to see you there!

Now Officially Available:

Do you enjoy Savasana, but wish it could be a little longer? Do you need to take some time for yourself over the holiday season? A CD that is receiving great reviews may just be the ideal antidote to your holiday schedule: “Guided Relaxation: A Reprieve from a Frenetic Pace” with Natasha Boldireff, which offers everyone an opportunity to meditate in a relaxed state in much the same way we do at the end of our yoga classes and in Friday evening Meditations, but at your leisure. It is approximately 53 minutes long and people are really overjoyed with it, which is very humbling and gratifying. It is currently in Booklore and Harmony and I also have copies available should you wish to get them quickly in time for Christmas. Cost is $20.

David Hickey’s Crystal Bowl and Planet Gong Concert: Sounds of the Solar System is Back 3x at a New Location: Citrus Dance at 62 Broadway. Join us for 3 Exciting Shows: Saturday, January 9th, Saturday, February 6th, and Saturday, March 6th. Shows begin at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20. Everyone is most excited about bringing the show to this particular venue. David’s website is http://www.crystaljourney.ca/ for concert details, future dates and more information. Please RSVP either to David, Citrus Dance Inc., or me should you wish to attend.   519-941-1444 yogalaya@yahoo.ca Natasha 519-938-9408.
That is about all the news… thank you kindly for your support over the year, your time and attention, and I look forward to seeing you soon, and certainly in the New Year! Until then… Keep practicing your yoga and keep “showing up” to your meditation… the benefits are far too incredible to do anything but!

Hello Everyone:

Hope this email finds you very well and happy. Just letting you know that I am still teaching very happily and actively in the community, but no longer at one fixed address.

Here is the updated information that describes where and when YOGA classes can be found.

Class times are 1.5 hours (with the exceptions of the Women’s only Gym and Riverdale) and locations during the week are as follows:

Monday Evenings 8-9:30pm (more active Yoga Flow class) at the Headwaters Racquet Club (HRC) address information at the bottom of the weekly line-up — (please note… it is highly recommended that you have a foundation of the poses to take this class)

Tuesday Mornings 9:15-10:45am (All Levels) at The Orangeville Dojo - 80 Centennial at C-Line.

Wednesday Evenings 5:30-7:00pm (Therapeutic Yoga) at the HRC

- Great for anyone that needs to rediscover their abilities and comfortable range of motion. An opportunity to soften areas of tension and strengthen weak areas. Be prepared for the Ah-has!

Wednesday Evenings 7:30-9:00pm (Beginner) at Citrus Dance Inc. (62 Broadway at the corner of Wellington where Parfect Conditions was once located). Classes are $15 to drop in or you can save by purchasing a 5 class pass for $65, or 10 for $120 by cheque or cash.

Thursday Afternoons 1-2:30pm (Beginner) at the HRC

Thursday Evenings (All Levels) 6:30-7:30pm at Orangeville Women’s Health Club (210 Broadway, Suite 108 behind and across from Meridian Credit Union). Classes are $10 to drop in. Please note that preference in terms of capacity is given to Members.

Friday Mornings 10:30-11:30am (Power Yoga) at Riverdale Fitness Mill 104 Maple Ave, Inglewood. I am filling in for 3 months for a friend beginning on December 18th (followed by a 2 week holiday break) then classes resume January 8th, 2010. Classes are $15 to drop in, but please note that preference in terms of capacity is given to their members.

Saturday Mornings 9:00-10:30am (All Levels) at the HRC

We have all the mats and props you will need (feel to bring them only if you have them)– I would recommend that you bring along some water and a blanket (to cover the length of your body– we use this to prop the knees and for Final Relaxation at the end) and please arrive about 15 minutes prior to class to allow for extra time to sign in.

The Headwaters Racquet Club (HRC) is located at HWY9/Broadway and Ridell. The first time you visit the HRC there is a reduced cost of $10.50, and thereafter each class is $15.75 (including GST). Their location is at Riddell and Broadway/HWY9 (the next set of lights after the lights at C-Line/HWY9 where the west-end Shopper’s Drug Mart is located if you are going towards Arthur). If coming from downtown Orangeville turn Right at the lights of Riddel and HWY9 as if you were going to Greenwood Construction and immediately turn Left and follow the road around this building and you will see the large building of the HRC just in behind.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I would recommend bringing water, to layer your clothing, and bringing a blanket that would cover the length of your body with a nice weight to it.

MEDITATION SESSIONS

Something new, and with my teacher, Nadhia Sutara’s blessing, I am now offering Meditation from my home on a by donation basis (all proceeds go towards having Nadhia return in May and toward her flight, food, cost for her room and board at our 3rd Silent Meditation Retreat at Stillpoint from May 5-9th, 2010). There is limited room in my home, so please reserve your space in advance. Meditation sessions are every 2nd Friday (mostly with some finessing over December). The next one is Friday, November 20th from 8-10pm at 88 Lakeview Court, Orangeville, ON L9W 4P3 519-938-9408. You are to bring a cloud of comfort-this is enough comfort for your body which might include blankets/comforters, Thermarest, sleeping bag, and pillows. Our meditations are done lying down and we are guided in the Vipassana tradition. We start out with some light exercises to release tension, allow energy to flow by opening up the primary joints in the body, some pranayama and then we begin. The doors lock promptly at 8pm so as not to disturb the atmosphere. Please enter quietly. We follow the meditation with a reading and discussion.

Future Dates:

December 18th (break for the holidays)

January 8th will be the next one.

For your home practice, and ideal Christmas gift to yourself or someone who would benefit from recharging and relaxing…

If the Meditation dates do not work for you both, there is a review in the current Winter Edition of In the Hills Magazine, written by a dear friend and fellow yogini, Lisa Watson. You can find it on ~ p. 52 reviewing a CD, I was asked to record– “Guided Relaxation: A Reprieve from a Frenetic Pace”, which offers everyone an opportunity to meditate in a relaxed state in much the same way we do on Friday evenings, but at your leisure. It is about 53 minutes long, and true blue local production and people are really happy with it, which is very humbling and gratifying. It will be in Booklore and Harmony within the next 2 weeks. The photography on the cover is stunning and is presented by Ila Sisson of Touched by Light Gallery.

Namaste,

Natasha

Hello Friends:

I hope this email is very timely and finds you all well and enjoying the summer. As most of you know, the yoga studio on Mill Street had closed its doors on June 30th. For those wondering where they can continue their yoga classes or where to begin taking yoga classes-there is an ideal solution-
I have been asked by Headwaters Racquet Club to teach at their brand new facility. Upon visiting the new racquet and fitness club, I was very impressed and excited by the number of value-added amenities they have to offer. Firstly they pride themselves on being a family-oriented health and fitness club offering state-of-the-art fitness equipment, sauna, steam room, squash courts, and tennis courts all under one roof. They truly aim to exceed your expectations! Happily, I will be teaching in some of your favourite time slots. The room in which the classes will be held is spacious and bright with two banks of windows, an entity completely on its own on the 2nd floor that overlooks the beautiful area in which we live… can’t wait until you see it!

BEG/INT Mondays 8-9:30pm (included with membership)
RESTORATIVE/THERAPEUTIC Wednesdays 5:15-6:45pm *
BEG/INT Thursdays 1-2:30pm (included with membership)
ALL LEVEL Saturdays 9-10:30am *

*HRC is hoping that once the membership grows, these classes will eventually be included in the membership..

Each first-time guest to the Headwaters Racquet Club is completely complimentary (with the exception of court use & group classes), please come and check the facilities and take a class. During that initial visit, please allow sufficient time to sign in and a brief orientation of where to change, and how to get to the class upstairs on the 2nd floor.

Now for the Big Questions:
Do you have to be a member to join? **An important update from Amie Greenwood**

It seems there has been a lot of confusion regarding Yoga at Headwaters Racquet club. Working with the HRC the pricing structure has since been revised:
All non-members get a complimentary first time visit at Headwaters Racquet Club! (This means that you do not pay our normal non-member entrance fee of $10). After your first visit the non-member entrance fee is $5 when you are taking a group class (ie yoga).

The fee for Yoga is $10 per class for non-members. So if you are not a member you will pay the $5 entrance fee and the $10 yoga fee. This means it will be $15 per class for a non-member to come in and do yoga.

As for the people that took a yoga class on Saturday July 11, 2009. They have recorded your names and you will receive a $10 credit once the fees come into effect.

Please note that all Fees are subject to GST.

MORE UPDATED INFORMATION– But I just got a pass not that long ago, what happens now? There are about ~50 of you with current/active Yogalaya Class Passes: I have arranged in lieu of the HRC paying me for a period of 2 weeks an opportunity for you to attend any of the 4 weekly yoga classes AT NO ADDITIONAL COST to you for a 2-week time period beginning Saturday, July 11th - Saturday, July 25th. I have sent an email to those of you who are on this special 2-week guest list.

Location: right at the lights at the corner of Highway 9 and Riddell Road behind Greenwood Construction, just west of Orangeville. If coming from Broadway, pass the lights at Blind Line, C-Line (new Shopper’s Drug-Mart) and take your immediate right at the lights at Riddell (like you are going to Greenwood Construction), and follow the winding road.

They offer supervised Child Care during the following times:
• Monday to Saturday 8:00am - 11:00am
• Monday and Wednesday 5:00pm - 8:00pm
• Tuesday and Thursday 12:00pm - 3:00pm
Child Care is $3.50/hour, or $30.00 for 10 hours pass card.

Another very likely possibility…
I have met with Sensei and Carolyn of The Orangeville Dojo (at the corner of Centennial and C-Line) and seen their facilities. The space is well suited to yoga–the acoustics are ideal, and there is a wonderful amount of natural light and air circulation as well (5x the size of the Mill Street studio). To get started, we need to hear from you-we need a minimum of 6 people to get this class underway! We would like to start July 28th on Tuesdays 9:15-10:45am… an ideal time when the Dojo space is available for yoga. The cost will be the same as the studio-a 10-class pass for $120 (good for 3 months) payable to The Orangeville Dojo, or $15 to drop in. We need to secure a number of people to get started, so please reply directly to Carolyn should you be interested. Carolyn can be reached at 519-941-3656 or at theorangevilledojo@yahoo.ca .

Additional Exciting Events happening in the Orangeville area and opportunities to network, meditate, obtain a Thai Yoga Massage and do some outdoor Yoga…

Sangha & Meditation on a Sunday Evening:
Interested in starting a Meditation practice? Wanting to continue and seek the support of others who also meditate? Just curious about Meditation? Beginning Sunday ,July 26th, I am offering my home on Sunday evenings 7:30-9pm (to help cope with the week ahead). The program will be along the same lines as the one Nadhia conducted: beginning with gentle exercises for all shapes, physical abilities and ages to help open and release the body; deep relaxation and guided meditation using one of the recordings we made; perhaps one of the dharma talks Nadhia gave; time for sharing, mutual support, etc. and perhaps from time to time a spiritual film.

We will apply techniques to facilitate attaining the state of meditation: techniques to relax the body and eliminate tension, to free the mind of thoughts and focus it without the need for undue effort or concentration. As Nadhia explained, “We ~fall into meditation– much the same way as we fall asleep.” People from all traditions find these techniques in no way contradictory to their own practices.

Nadhia’s unique way of teaching is completely complementary, and peppered with an amazing array of stories, personal anecdotes, and teachings she herself has experienced or been touched by. She will also be but a phone call or email away for anyone seeking private guidance or fine-tuning to their personal practice, according to their needs.

Sangha - a community of like-minded souls - is absolutely vital for all of us on the Path. It’s like climbing a mountain. In a group, each member supports the others, no member climbs alone. We all have our weak periods, and the support of the group is paramount at those times because, thankfully, we are not all down at the same time. My hope is that we utilize each session as ideal nourishment and encouragement on this journey called Life.

There is no cost to attend, and voluntary donations can go towards the “bring Nadhia back soon” fund.

To better understand the approach we will use and to find out more about Nadhia, please visit www.Among-Friends.ca .

Paul’s Thai Yoga Massage is gaining popularity! He is willing to come out to your home, or you can have one in our home. Cost is $60 for an hour and a half massage. Want to find out more about Thai Massage? Please refer to this site http://www.thaimassagetoronto.com/clinic/page7.html  To book, please call 519-938-9408… you’ll be happy you did!

MORE EVENTS…
• GARAGE SALE on the morning of Saturday July 18th at 88 Lakeview Court (my home) (an several other houses on the street are participating as well. 8:00 a.m. - noon

In the hopes of raising funds to bring Nadhia back to Orangeville this Fall (really trying to!), I am holding a Garage Sale. As you may know Nadhia does not charge for her work, and she lives on a very meager pension. The only way she can travel is if airfare is provided.

Among the items will be two of the yoga studio’s large 5×5 Mandalas, other household items, an antique round piano stool with clawed feet holding onto glass balls, some yoga books, and an S.S. Stewart - Paul Hahn & Co. black upright piano, speakers, fine china tea cups, British Royal Family collectibles, artwork, etc.

I realize that these items are bigger and worth more than regular garage sale “fodder”. Should you wish to see any of these items sooner, and to make your best offer– call or email to arrange an appointment prior to the day.

If anyone would like to donate some items, or help with the event, please let me know as soon as possible (I am teaching at the Racquet Club on Saturdays from 9-10:30, but hope to back soon afterwards after the initial set-up).

Looking forward to seeing you here!
